About Our Pastor

Rev. Dr. Lottie Jones-Hood has served as Pastor of First Congregational Church of Detroit since April 1, 1994.  She previously served at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church under the instruction of Rev. Dr. Charles Adams.

In 1993, she received a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL and in 1990, received a Doctorate in Education, Human Services Administration from Wayne State University.

In 1998, Dr. Jones-Hood received her Doctorate in Ministry from Chicago Theolgical Seminary.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Rev. Dr. Jones-Hood created Babesworld, a living skills children's program devoted to drug and alcohol prevention and has also served as President/CEO of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependencies - Greater Detroit Area. 

Since becoming pastor of the historic "Old First", Rev. Dr. Jones-Hood has created inspirational and educational programming designed to promote healing and wholeness to people of all ages.  She is the founder and CEO of the Friends of First Living Museum.

Rev. Rachael Anderson is a licensed minister at First Congregational Church of Detroit and serves as the outreach minister.

Rev. Cindy A. Rice is a licensed minister at First Congregational Church of Detroit.  In 2009, she received her Master of Divinity from Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit, MI.  Rev. Rice is also a fellow in the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies program with the National Association for Theological Studies program.

Rev. Reno D. Wright has served as a member of First Congregational Church of Detroit since 2001.  he previously served at Doors of Healing Tabernacle Church in Lansing, MI and Christian Tabernacle Church in Southfield, MI.

In 2007, Rev. Wright enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit, MI, and in 2008, he became the Superintendent of the Sunday School Department.  He has also actively served the church in various other capacities including the music department, the Diaconate board, as a worship team leader and as a member of the ministerial staff.

In 2009, he became a licensed minister of the Gospel and was accepted as a fellow in the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies program with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.

Rev. Wright also serves the community as Director of a workforce development program in the city of Detroit designed to assist teens and young adults achieve educational and career-related endeavors.  he also serves as a community ambassador for the Govenor's office of the State of Michigan.

  Minister-In-Training Erie Smith is part of the ministerial staff at First Congregational Church of Detroit.  She has served "Old First" in numerous capacities including chairperson of the diaconate board. 
  Minister-In-Training Lewis Smith is part of the ministerial staff at First Congregational Church of Detroit.  He has served "Old First in numerous capacities including the diaconate board and as the youth minister.
